My Story…
Hi! My name is Collins! Though my story is my own, my first few chapters are being written strikingly similar to my Momma’s. When I was only 3 days old, a pediatrician making his rounds in the nursery noticed that my chest was retracting and it appeared I was having some difficulty breathing. I was transferred to the NICU for further observations where I received an echocardiogram. After several hours of being monitored and having my test results studied, my cardiologist later concluded that I was struggling with a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), the same heart defects that my Momma was diagnosed with as an infant. Fast forward one whole month and a lengthy two week hospital stay in Le Bonheur’s Cardiac Care Unit, I am responding remarkably well to the flow reducers placed in my pulmonary arteries to reduce the overflow of blood to my little lungs. I’m hoping to continue to grow stronger and braver for open heart surgery in the future! Please join Collins’ Crew and support!
